The Council of the Town of Wilson Creek regrettably announce the resignation of Mayor Rob Herron, effective 9/29/2026. Council is now seeking candidates to fill the vacancy for a short term effective through 11/23/2027. The position of Mayor will appear on the 2027 primary/general ballot. Candidates interested in running for Mayor in the election will need to file with Grant County during filing week, May 3-7, 2027. The candidate elected will serve from 11/23/2027 until 12/31/2029. The position will then return to the regular schedule of 4-year elected terms.
Notice is hereby given that the Town of Wilson Creek Council will accept letters of interest from any interested, qualified person to serve as the Mayor for the Town of Wilson Creek. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, age 18 or older, registered voter for the Town of Wilson Creek, Grant County, Washington, and not be currently incarcerated for a felony. Letters of interest may be turned into the Clerk at Town Hall, via mail to PO Box 162, Wilson Creek WA 98860, or via email to clerk@wilsoncreekwa.com. Letters should contain applicant full legal name and contact information.
Applicants will be requested to attend a Council meeting for interviews in an open public meeting. This meeting will take place on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at 6:00 pm. During this meeting, an appointment decision may be made in regular session open to the public, following an executive session for deliberation, closed to the public.
