TOWN OF WILSON CREEK

REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING

May 10, 2018

Council Present: Mayor Kevin Newland, and Councilmembers Keith Jensen, Debbie Moore, Kellie Ribail, Scott Mortimer, and Raymond Kelby. Staff present: Kaci Anderson and Chris Stout.

Open Meeting: Mayor Kevin Newland called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Minutes: Motion made by K. Jensen, seconded by R. Kelby, and carried to approve the April 12, 2018, meeting minutes.

Good News: Mayor Newland and the Council expressed gratitude for the work from Wilson Creek FFA students, led by Roxi Mortimer, planting flowers in the Town’s flower pots. Thank you!

Mayor Newland also noted that Public Works Josiah Justice will be receiving his driver’s license. The Council noted how nice the park and town has been looking thanks to Josiah’s work.

Public Comment: A town residents submitted an online question regarding mosquitoes in town and whether the Town has plans to spray for mosquitoes. The Council noted that there is currently no Mosquito District that serves Wilson Creek. To spray, weather conditions must be specific – a low of 60°F at night, calm or no wind, etc. They discussed affordable options for use at home.

Council Concerns: It was noted that Basin Septic did not service the outhouses prior to the most recent home softball game.

Motion made by K. Ribail, seconded by K. Jensen, and carried to approve the Town’s current fiscal status and to pay the May 2018 bills as follows:

Maintenance Report: Stout said his time at the beginning of the month was spent wrapping up after the RMSA inspection. There were also issues with the well, but it is now running consistently and properly as is the chlorinator. Other work done in May included turning on all sprinklers, timers, etc., and rewiring the golf cart. After multiple attempts to fix the golf cart – replacing parts including the ignition switch – it is still not operating properly and outside help will need to be called in to repair it. Alternate options including a Gator or side-by-side were discussed.

Old Business

Grant County Sheriff’s Office update: The sheriff’s office installed computer and network equipment and are waiting for floor protection and chair.

Port District update: Mayor Newland has received no written response from the Port District. Alternate possibilities for use of the airport property were discussed.

New Business

Bid Selection for Noxious Weed Control: The Town received one bid after advertising for noxious weed control in town. Motion made by K. Ribail, seconded by D. Moore, and carried to approve contracting with CS Custom Spray for noxious weed control in 2018.

Adjournment: Motion made by K. Jensen, seconded by R. Kelby, and carried to adjourn the meeting at 7:12 pm. The next regular council meeting is Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 6:00 pm.
