TOWN OF WILSON CREEK
SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING / WORK SESSION
February 23, 2022 – remote/online meeting via Google Meet

Council Present: Mayor Robert Herron; Councilmembers Scott Mortimer, Raymond Kelby, Karl Hinze, Jerrod Johnson. Council Absent: Councilmember Debbie Moore. Staff Present: Clerk/Treasurer Kaci Anderson.

Special Council Meeting – 6:00 pm

  1. Open Meeting: Mayor Robert Herron called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm and led with the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion made by K. Hinze, seconded by J. Johnson, and carried to approve the addition of an executive session to the meeting agenda, prior to adjournment.  
  2. Clerk/ Treasurer Report: Checks & Electronic Withdrawal: Motion made by S. Mortimer, seconded by and J. Johnson, and carried to pay the February 2022 checks as follows:

    PAYROLL: Check numbers 10877 – 10881 ……………..  $          229.86
    EFT payments ………………………………………………………………..  $            38.24
    TOTAL ………………………………………………………………………………  $          268.10
  3. Discussion Items: The council discussed history, recent and ongoing situations, various views, ideas and goals, and progress made, about the following topics:
    1. Intentions for this work session
    2. Code enforcement
      1. Ongoing building code violations and solutions and approach to those solutions
    3. Floodplain maps
      1. Recap Community Assistance Call Mayor Herron and K. Anderson had with FEMA
      2. Discussed structural and environmental improvements to aid in flood avoidance
      3. The goal is to lessen the burden on residents regarding flood insurance and to make it easier to buy, sell, build, etc., in town
    4. Long-term views and goals
      1. Potential surplus or surplus-auction of shop items
      2. This month’s purchase of Ford F-350 and potential future equipment purchases
      3. Small-scale improvements/repairs needed around town
      4. Potential of initiating a more cooperative working relationship with Port District 6.
      5. Discussed things that are going well and importance of maintaining at current levels
  4. Executive Session: Council entered into executive session [RCW 42.30.110 (1)(a)(i)(ii)] at 7:56 for approximately 10 minutes. At this point, guests were no longer in attendance and the executive session continued until adjournment.

    Adjournment: Motion made by J. Johnson, seconded by K. Hinze, and carried to adjourn the meeting at 9:27 pm. The next regular council meeting is Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 6:00 pm.
